toy with a toy heart

A change in jay oh bee gives new opportunities. The boys and I will ride to/from school 2 days a week, inshallah. Here is what that can look like.

To school:

Bike Rack minutiae. There are some fancy parking jobs...

Theirs are clearly superior. The only 2 with baskets, anyway.

Homeward bound:
This development allows me to ride over and pick them up after school to shepherd them home. Otherwise, it's a bad idea for the younger to be on the road. He's careless about line choice.

Dirt byroads and sneaky cut throughs are de rigeur.

Brooks saddles! That is true fatherly love. Good man.

Those two little buggers are blessed. They are learning that school (and later, work) are just the things one does between rides.

Got room for a 3rd kid? He's about 40, but he does chores the first time you ask.

The Brooks ethic, very Sound Rev. I am having trouble with my daughter getting with it. Still bucking me and sticking with the plastic, pink sparkle look. Any suggestions.

D just moving up to 26".

J rolling 20".

They have no choice in their componentry. It simplifies things. Plus, I'm the guy who has to look at (work on)their stuff.

It may have to do with Girly Girl stuff you know. But atleast she has "Dirt in the Skirt". Starting 6 yrs. and now she is 9 that ain't bad in my book.

How about a pink Brooks?

They are available...and the saddle on D's bike is tearing out at the rivets (the guy I got it from had neats foot oiled it AND baked it- bad ideas.) so he may be getting one of those himself.

See?

FWIW (not much, really), I ditched my Brooks last year. My butt has been happier ever since. I'm okay for about 25 miles on it, then it's annoying.

Coupled with having to cover them in our unending rain... well, I'm glad I made the choice.

Very nice photos! I'm sure you had a great time biking with your kids. And I'm pretty sure, your kids had so much fun too! I always love seeing family who goes biking together. Thanks for sharing!
