Dear Internet,
I am putting together a new cross bike. It will be comprised of a blend of totally kickass old parts and new parts. I am trying to decide which fucking awesome low Q mountain cranks to run 2x9. I would appreciate (or, as the Rastafarian in I would say: appreshilove...Yes I. bo! bo! ) any input you, the Internet have to offer on this monumental decision.
No thanks on carbon fibre. It is not awesome.

velo orange has a nice sugino xd700 48-34 double. my road, cross, and mt sport suginos. I likey. lots.
obviously, this in an effort to match my forthcoming CX/off road all round build effort.
I've been looking for the same features in a crankset...the Alpina and xd700 48-34 are good choices and FSA gossamer 46/36 cransets that take a isis BB are avialable from $70-99 around the net/on ebay.
Of course you are going to have the face the fact that no matter which cranks you choose they will pale in comparison to the swesomeness of my cranks, just because they are mine.
